Guitar Studio now supports the Downloading of Guitar TABs from a wide variety of online sources! Simply choose DOWNLOAD TABS from the Guitar Studio Menu and then use Guitar Studio or your Web Browser to locate the songs your looking to add to your Tabular Music Library. How to Turn a Text File into a Tab

This Guitar Studio Tutorial article will instruct you on how to take any text file and put it onto your BlackBerry for use with Guitar Studio.

What you’ll need:

1) A source for Tabs or Lyric/Chord files (there are lots online) or write your own if you desire.
2) A text editor such as Textedit (Mac) or NotePad (PC)
3) A email program to email the result

Guitar Studio offers very flexible file handling as long as the extension on the file you want to use is .tab
This means that you can write lyric and chord text like the example below, or cut and paste any Tab or Chord/Lyric text into your text editor and then save it with a .tab extension for use in Guitar Studio.

Example: (written in a text editor like NotePad or TextEdit)

Once you have finished editing your text file. Save it with a .tab extension (or rename it once the file is on your BlackBerry) and then email the file to your BlackBerry email address.

Once you receive the file, say yes to the download file option, then yes to the file not compatible with BlackBerry message (it will be compatible with Guitar Studio). Choose a place to store the file on your device (I recommend a folder name like GuitarMedia). Once the file has been saved to your BlackBerry (rename it to .tab extension if it isn’t already), then start the Guitar Studio App, go to LOAD TAB and click the BlackBerry key and choose UPDATE LIBRARY.

You should then see your new .tab file in the list and be able to open it.

Now all the chords above your lyrics are accessible in the 30,000 chord library that comes with Guitar Studio, just by highlighting the chord.

This is a great option for those that want to write their own Lyric/Chord music and then import for use with Guitar Studio. It also means that you can cut and paste virtually any music you can find (legally) and put it on your device for use with Guitar Studio.
